Mission Statement
Here at UNITY GCJC, we have been called to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We have been called to preach the gospel, not the doctrine of men; but to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. We have been sent to the broken, the poor, the hurting, the hungry, the addicted, the convicted, and the lost to shower them with the love of Jesus Christ.
It is our mandate to show them that through Christ, no matter what your past held, you can have a new beginning in HIM. Our job is not to examine and hold on to your past, but to show you through Christ what your future can be.
We do not care nor are we concerned about what you are when you come through the doors. We are concerned how you leave out the door.
We have been called to this work so you can have a life changing event with God. It is sincerest hope that your life and who you are will be transformed and changed forever; and the person you were when you came in the doors of GCJC, is not the same person that leaves.
We want you to become a new man/woman ready to build a strong relationship with Christ. We want you to desire to become more Christ-like. And in so doing, develop a yearning to grow in the salvation of Christ and compassion to build stronger family relationships.
Our mission is to see lives transformed from sinner to a disciple of Christ-dedicated to the work of God and the vision of this ministry.
We are a ministry to transform people's lives, to be wholesome, healed followers of Jesus Christ.
Bishop Gregory T. Lightner, IV.
HISTORY
In the late winter of 2010, our now Bishop Lightner yielded the call of God and the journey to birth Unity Chapel began.
This journey started in Houston, TX. The Glorious Church of Jesus Christ was born in 1999 by the late Bishop Donald Nya. He passed away in 2004; before his passing, Bishop Nya passed the mantle of the Glorious Church of Jesus Christ [church and body] on to the then Elder Alberta Gray. When she relocated back home to Beaufort, SC Minister Gray began seeking God for direction as to how to continue the legacy of Bishop Nya. She later met Elder Gregory Lightner and in August 2013, Elder Gray passed the (Glory), the mantle on to him.
Through God’s promises the hearts of many were touched to sow into the ministry’s vision by donating monetary gifts, materials, time, and labor. Unity is forever thankful to everyone who participated in God's dynamic move to open the church doors.
Unity Chapel opened its doors in June of 2011, with its first service being held on July 17, 2011. On September 18, 2011, Elder Gregory T. Lightner IV was officially ordained as Pastor of Unity Chapel by Bishop Robert Branch, Pastor of Macedonia Church of the 21st Century, and Elder Harold Wright Sr. Pastor of Chapel on The Hill Holiness Church. Unity Chapel was also Dedicated and Consecrated by Bishop Robert Branch and Elder Harold Wright Sr. on this day.
The following year on Sunday, September 16, 2012, Evangelist Frances Lightner-Peacock was ordained as Overseer of Unity Chapel by Bishop Robert Branch.
On Sunday, September 22, 2013, Pastor Gregory T. Lightner IV was consecrated as Bishop over the “Glorious Church of Jesus Christ Body,” alongside his wife Elect-Lady Karen Lightner by the Honorable Bishop Robert Branch Presiding Prelate of Church of Deliverance 21st Century located in Suffolk, Va.
To honor the legacy of the late Bishop Donald Nya, in March of 2018 under the instruction of the Holy Ghost, Bishop Lightner removed the word “Chapel” to fully embrace the mantel of The Glorious Church of Jesus Christ.
